Uncorking the New Wine Access

Americans are drinking more wine than ever.

But the wines they’re drinking are far from extraordinary. And that, to us, is unacceptable. Life is too short to drink bad wine. We’re here to make sure you never have another bad glass.

Today, we officially unveiled the new Wine Access. Our new online wine store experience combines decades of wine expertise and connections, ground-breaking technological advancements, and no-judgement educational content to allow you to access the world of wine like never before.

There is simply too much confusion in the wine-buying process, especially for the new generation of wine lovers. They are curious about wine and want to deepen their connection to wine, but often don’t know where to start. There’s a big leap from enjoying red blends to being an expert in rare vintages or varietals. Our mission is to bridge that gap.

It all starts with extraordinary wines, which is why we have invested so much in creating a world class wine team. Led by Chief Wine Officer Matt Deller, a Master of Wine, our team is made up of the best and most well connected wine experts in the world to bring you special bottles you won’t find anywhere else. Our judging process ensures every wine is of unparalleled quality - in fact, they tasted more than 20,000 wines to pick the 40 wines available on the site for today’s launch. 

As a part of our effort to better understand the needs of today’s wine consumers, today we also released a data report, Through the Grapevine,” which sheds light on where the wine industry is headed. To truly comprehend wine consumers’ preferences, we dove into purchasing habits of fine-wine consumers over the past 10 years. We discovered that Rosé is the fastest growing wine varietal in the United States, red blends have gone mainstream and wine sales from emerging markets, like Greece, South Africa, Chile, Germany and Peru, have nearly doubled in popularity since 2015.
