Our hardest working dress
The Nicobar Dress
When we launched two years ago, a cotton maxi dress with a wrap V neckline, two-button closure at the waist, and a front slit for a little extra legroom (in a black and white polka print) was the first to sell out. There on out we’ve called it The Nico Dress.
Perfect for brunch, for a party, or for Wednesday, the Nico dress is the ultimate desk-to-dinner piece, and looks especially great when you move. The sheer, long sleeves are super flattering, and the skirt is fully lined, and we loved it so much that we’ve revisited it a few times, in a soft check, in a clean stripe, in a solid fuchsia and lush indigo, and more.
SHOP THE LOOK
This roomy form-flatterer does it all. It is our hardest working dress, with eyelet button closures that wrap snugly around the waist and a length that grazes ankles, allowing for sexy billowing when worn as a dress, or a flattering overlay when layered over something else.
Comfortable sleeves sit at ease round the wrist with a one button closure.
Two-button closure at the waist that sits comfortably below a universally flattering neckline.
All x meters of our best cotton knife-pleated to perfection for endless twirls.
Move any way you like, our hardest working dress has got your back.
FROM THE JOURNAL
As the weather gets warmer, Nicobar’s collection looks right to the origin of the sun: we’re travelling to Japan. We’re thumbing through inspirations both old and new: from timeworn patching and weaving techniques that we’ve borrowed to make our own to infusing classic symbols of this fascinating culture with freshness, we’re letting our travels inspire a season’s worth of easy spring and summer living.
PORTRAIT OF A LADY
Shweta Malhotra and Nicobar have something in common: we’re both dotty for polka dots. We’ve talked about our love for this pattern often, and Shweta’s own preoccupation with the polka is well documented in her work, so it came as no surprise at all when her first Nicobar purchase was the floor-length cotton polka dot dress, which she then illustrated!
