Getting Bored Over the Weekend? Check-out These Amazing Indian Web-Series

There comes a time when the weekend seems more boring than fun. And when there are no good upcoming movie trailers or good movies in the cinema hall, they more or less seem to be a total let down.

But if you happen to belong to the epic era of the 80s and 90s, you would have clearly remembered how Doordarshan filled colors in one’s life with those lovely shows, news broadcasts, and matinee movies over the weekend. Fortunately or unfortunately, Indian television got bigger but we seriously doubt that it has gone any better in two decades. With the inception of Saas-Bahu sagas in the early 2000s, the face of Indian television has been somewhat ruined.

Yes! There was a dearth of great content for almost a decade on television but all thanks to YouTube and the Indie web-series, Indians have something relevant and reliable to consume as entertainment. Some of the web-series are so good that they are worth having a repetition marathon.

So, in case you have run out of options over the weekend, here are some Indian web-series that are totally worth your time.

Scared Games: This NetFlix production shook the Indian audience and showcased the true talent of Indian artists on an international platform. With a star-studded cast of Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Radhika Apte, this series showcases complex storytelling in the most effortless way. As per Bollywood hot gossip, this web-series also gave stability to Saif Ali Khan’s toppled career. The next season will be releasing on 15th August on the platform, this time starring Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey.

Mirzapur: This indie gem by Amazon Prime showcases rural India in a very raw and real light. Having the power-packed cast of Vikrant Massey, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Pankaj Tripathi, and Rasika Duggal, the web series is wrenching but extremely interesting at the same time. The second season is expected to release early next year which is expected to be even rawer.

Kota-Factory: TVF has a knack of creating gold out of nothingness. Truly a gem of Indian web series, the show showcases the moribund life of Kota students in black and white background. If you haven’t watched it yet then you are certainly missing something very special!

TVF Pitchers: This one is another great contribution by TVF Play to the Indian entertainment industry. Though many people see entrepreneurship as the new “college guitar” but this web-series takes a very different take on this. Many are eagerly waiting for its second season but there is no official announcement as such as of now. If you are someone who lives more in the heart than the head, then this series is a must watch for you.
