Renowned Indian actor and producer, Akshay Kumar was born on September 9, 1967, in the city of Golden Temple (Amritsar), Punjab. His original name is Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia. While pursuing his education from Don Bosco High School, Darjeeling, he used to learn Karate. He was always keen to learn martial arts and participating in sports activities. After the completion of his schooling, he took admission in Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Mumbai but dropped out due to lack of interest in studies.
Besides working at a food stall in Bangkok, he kept on trying his hands in modeling. He shot for several films before getting a lead role in the movie ‘Saugandh’ (1991) opposite Raakhee and Shantipriya. This was the time when he changed his professional name to Akshay Kumar. After getting engaged twice, he finally married Twinkle Khanna, daughter of Dimple Kapadia and Rajesh Khanna in the year 2011.

Being starred in more than 110 films till now, he is more famous for his Khiladi series. Akshay Kumar’s movies started winning everyone's hearts. More than 50 films of Akshay Kumar are commercially proved to be successful at the box office. His ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’ directed by Sameer Malkan and ‘Mohra’ directed by Rajiv Rai was among the highest-grossing movies of the year 1994. He played a double role in Umesh Mehra’s ‘Sabse Bada Khiladi’ in the following year. His career took a setback after the release of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi’ opposite Juhi Chawla.
