AwlSnap celebrates craft and human touch. We celebrate quality, and the way a material feels when you touch it. We celebrate design that meets a need or solves a problem. We celebrate curiosity and side-ways wit.
We like to work, we like to play, we like to laugh, and we like making things that help us do just that. You’ll find every AwlSnap product is designed to serve a utilitarian purpose, make you look good, and to age with perfection (much like a fancy French cheese).
Awl Snap leather goods are designed and handmade by Erin McRoberts and her small, über talented team in her Richmond, VA studio. What started in 2009 as a desire to make herself a practical, quality bag, quickly turned into a public demand for reproductions and custom orders. Now 5 years later, Erin has turned AwlSnap into her day-job and has been steadily growing her team as more and more people discover her products. Days are long, and running a business is tough, but it's absolutely worth every minute! #neverlookback
Awl Snap uses hides which are supplied from tanneries here in the US and abroad and are a by-product of the food industry. Most likely a cow, goat, or buffalo in a previous life, the leather hides used for each item are individually unique and cut from a selection of premium quality leather. Each leather hide may differ slightly in color, and could contain small natural blemishes. In certain pieces we might chose to include these markings to add character to the piece, and create a foundation for a great story.
